Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Phillip by adding your memories and photos.

I met Phillip once this past August for just an hour. I was impressed that this 19 year-old kid was so composed, so resolute, and so certain about his choices in life. From what I have read that others have written, all agree he was a special person. He came to me looking for information, but he is the one who made a profound impact on me in that one hour. I am honored to have met him and I thank him for volunteering to do what so few people would do.

I only know your son through the articles that I have read the past week, but I also have a 19 year old son in the Marine Corps and I have an older son getting ready to deploy again to Afghanistan soon, so I am feeling the loss of your son more than I thought I would. Your son's sacrifice will never be forgotten by my family, and neither will the sacrifice made by you and your family. I hear

I just wanted to express my condolences to the Vinnedge family during this time of grief and anguish. I was a volunteer with Cub Scout Pack 674 in the late 1990s and am so proud when I think of Phillip's great courage and valor. He is a true American hero.

Dear Dave, Julie, Corey & Jason,

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Although I didn't know Phillip well, he was a true hero for sacrificing his life for our freedoms. I am grateful that Joe is able to travel to his funeral and wish I could join him. Please know that my heart and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time. God bless.

Dear Dave, Julie, Corey and Jason,
It was my privilege to know and work with Phillp during his time at Central. I was so pleased that he stopped by to see me before he left for Afghanistan and despite my deep sadness, I am comforted to know that he died doing exactly what he felt called to do. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you - you are a wonderful family.

To the Vinnedge's

I knew Phillip for just under two years and I'll always remember board games and playing different versions of Munchkin trying to beat Jason and Corey. You were blessed with three wonderful sons and I hope my prayers will reach God with those of others and help to soothe your family in need. You have so much to be proud for! I pray for your strength for the tough times ahead and thank your son for the service he gave to our country.

To the family of Lance Cpl. Phillip Vinnedge, I didn't know your son, but he is a true Hero to us all.

We were standing on the overpass by Bass Pro to show our respect for your son. It brought a lump to my throat.

I can only imagine the heartache you're going through. My heart breaks for all of you, but especially for the young man who is gone too soon.

My deepest sympathies.

I graduated with Phillip from Francis Howell Central in 2009 and had the honor of having two classes with him during our senior year. He was such a great person and an even better friend. I'll never forget him. It's people like Phillip that made this world a better place. He will be forever remembered as an American hero, who served his country and made everyone around him very proud. I'll miss you buddy.

Dear Dave and Julie,
We are deeply saddened to hear of your loss and the loss to the ranks of our brave Marines. We knew Phillip as a Cub Scout and as a Boy Scout. We recall how he was always cheerful and ready to help others. We pray God will comfort you and give you peace during this time. May you stand proudly knowing you raised a wonderful son who loved his family and his country.
With Great Sympathy,
Kim and John
